PROTFX.DK Help File
Loading in the file PROTFX.DK will setup Band-In-A-Box
for the EMU Proteus FX . It will setup:
1. Drums mapped to the Proteus FX General MIDI drum kit
patch (Proteus FX
patch #112)..
2. Patch Map (assigned to factory settings of the Proteus
FX).
3. Startup Patches and Channels in the MIDI Settings
Window.
The EMU Proteus FX patches run along similar lines to
General MIDI but
requires mapping to be fully usable in Band-in-a-Box. This
file uses Bank
2 (the first ROM preset bank) for the patches. ROM banks are
guaranteed
not to change. The first bank (Bank 0) is a RAM bank, and is
therefore not
guaranteed to have the expected patches at all times.
MIDI channel 10 is forced to load the above drum kit patch
through the
MIDI Settings dialog.
Your Proteus FX must be in "Multi" mode in order to handle
the multi-
timbral output of Band-in-a-Box. Set your Proteus FX up for
Multi mode
as follows:
1. Press the MASTER button to access the MASTER Menu.
2. Place the cursor at the top left of the display using the < >
cursor
buttons.
3. Turn the DATA knob to change screens until the "MIDI
MODE" screen
appears.
4. Press the > cursor button once to move the cursor under the
mode name.
5. Turn the DATA knob until "Multi" is displayed.
6. Press the MASTER button to leave the MASTER Menu.
Your Proteus FX must be mapped to Bank 2 for MIDI
channels 2, 3, 4, 5,
6, 7, 8, and 10. This is accomplished through the MASTER
Menu as follows:
1. Press the MASTER button to access the MASTER Menu.
2. Place the cursor at the top left of the display using the < or
>
cursor button.
3. Turn the DATA knob to change screens until the
"BANK/PRST CHANGE"
screen appears.
4. Press the > cursor button once to move the cursor under the
channel #.
5. Turn the DATA knob to select "Channel 02".
6. Press the > cursor button once to move the cursor under the
channel
mapping.
7. Turn the DATA knob to select "Bank2".
8. Press the < cursor button once to return to the channel #.
9. Repeat steps 6, 7 and 8 for channels 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 10.
10. Press the MASTER button to leave the MASTER Menu.

Drum/Patch file .DK".
